Music Magpie was the very first site in the UK that allows you to turn unwanted and completed video games into cash. Not only can you trade in your old games but also other media including CDs and DVDs. The website is owned by Entertainment Magpie Ltd who are based in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

The website is really easy to use and only requires you to enter the barcode number off your old console game in order to get an instant quote. Alternatively you can also scan the barcode off your PCs webcam or via the iPhone app if you have one. Payments are sent via cheque within 7 days of your items being received.
Things You Need to Know Before Selling Your Items
- You cannot sell copied or pirated games
- Do not try and sell video games that have deep or heavy scratches, only disks with light surface scratches will be accepted.
- You must have the right case and all original artwork
- Only UK trades are accepted
- The instruction booklet should be in good condition with no tears or stickers stuck on it
- At this time you can sell games for consoles including the Playstaion 2, (PS2) Playstation 3, (PS3) Xbox, Xbox 360, Sony PSP, Nintendo Wii or DS.
How to sell Games for Cash at Music Magpie
- Pop along to the Music Magpie site here
- Enter the barcode number off the video game you want to sell in the search box at the top of the page. If you originally purchased your console game in HMV and there is a sticker over the top of the barcode then you must pull it off and type in the original one found underneath to get the price.
- Repeat the above process until you have entered the bar-codes off all the items you want to sell. You must trade in a minimum of 10 games, CDs and DVDs before you can press the complete trade button, the maximum that you can sell in any trade is 500.
- You can either send your items via their free courier service or through their freepost service. If sending by courier simply wait for your welcome pack, stick your free courier label on the box and wait for the your items to be picked up. If you are using the freepost address then write it on the box yourself and send it through the post office. If you are sending a lot of video games, CDs or DVDs through the post then its highly recommended that you use recorded or special delivery.
- Once your old and unwanted items have been received your trade will be processed and your cheque sent out within a maximum of 7 days. MusicMagpie will then re-use and re-sell or recycle your unwanted console games in order to make loads of everyday items which is great news for the environment.
